Product details

The CS-4 uses tie cushioning and a wheel-bump action to absorb movement, providing a more substantial stop for frequently used spur tracks. The stop slightly lifts the wheel as it engages and is used in matched pairs for short strings of standard freight cars.

Features and application limits

  • For 1–3 freight cars; maximum impact speed 1–2 mph; wheel diameters 28–40 in. only.
  • For exposed North American freight T-rail, 85–141 lb/yd, #1 relay grade or better, on sound, well-tamped wooden ties.
  • Do not install on concrete, steel or resin ties, on a descending grade, or at the very end of a siding. Leave 3–4 ties of rail behind the stops.
  • Install matching stops in pairs, aligned on ties perpendicular to the rails. Never combine one stop with a different design or manufacturer.
  • Coast into the stops; do not strike them under power. Use a bumping post for longer consists and inside buildings.
  • Maintain the painted finish, inspect clamp nuts and stops, and replace damaged or excessively worn parts.
  • Product weight: 175 lb. Ask for review of flush-rail applications.

Use the current manufacturer instructions and your facility’s procedures for installation, inspection and operation. Ask us to confirm the selected model against your application.
