Freight Car Chocking Skate (Flush Rail, Right)

Product details

A compact chocking skate for freight cars on level flush track. Its 17-1/2-inch length suits locations where a portable skate is needed. Choose left or right as viewed from the handle end.

Features and application limits

• For flush rail only; rail sizes 90–155 lb/yd.
• Minimum wheel diameter: 28 in.
• Do not use on grades. Keep the rail clean; grease can allow uncontrolled sliding.
• Keep workers and bystanders well clear of the sides and front of the vehicle: wheel pressure can eject a skate with substantial force.
• Do not use when one end of the vehicle is raised; all wheels must remain on the rails. Replace a skate with a broken or curled tongue.
• Move the wheel onto the skate slowly, then apply the brakes. For locomotives, apply both air and hand brakes; the skate alone will not hold the locomotive steady.
• A steel wheel chock may be needed at the opposite end.
• The manufacturer’s flush-rail family and individual listings differ on weight; confirm the selected left/right model when quoting.
