A two-way hinged derail for freight cars and four- or six-axle locomotives. The derail block is raised onto the rail to direct an approaching wheel off the track in an emergency protection application. The blue sign is raised and lowered separately by hand. A compatible lifting lever can assist with moving the derail block.
Features and application limits
- Maximum operating speed: 10 mph.
- For exposed rail, 90–141 lb/yd, on wooden ties.
- Size the derail to the actual rail height, including the tie plate.
- Six screw spikes are supplied for anchoring.
- Listed height above rail: 2-3/4 in.
- The low-angle deflection bar accommodates the longer wheelbase of six-axle locomotives. Provide adequate side clearance for the derailed equipment to slide to a stop.
